Happy new year!
My postings had been sidetracked by cafe management, and lately, farming… know what I mean? *wink wink*
And it didn’t help that I had to manage the cafe and farm businesses of my three little punks as well. I begin to wonder why I got so involved with these online games. The laundry and the dishes were piling up.
The kids are back in school and Riel and I have also started our French language course. The kids are more excited than us with our French course. As soon as we picked them up from daycare, they asked what we learned and volunteered to do our homework!
Christmas went by so quickly. We had our midnight mass together with Tito Phil’s family on the 24th, and then we headed to his daughter’s house for some Arroz Caldo and smoked meat sandwiches. The kids played until close to midnight then we headed home. We were there again the following day for the Christmas dinner and opening of gifts.

Loved their Christmas tree. It was real! I took some pines / leaves and the fresh scent was awesome… I can imagine how the house smelled like when the tree was newly brought in.

We had our own Christmas balls to hang, with our names on it. It has been their family’s tradition for everyone who attends the party to hang a ball on the tree. The idea was to have everyone participate in completing the tree decoration. We really felt like family. It warmed my heart.

Opening of gifts. The boys couldn’t believe that they had presents to open. They weren’t expecting anything since their grampy and grammies, and titos and titas who usually give them Christmas gifts are all in Manila. It was really a pleasant surprise to them and they were very happy. So thank you so much Tito Phil and family for your thoughtfulness.

This toboggan gift was the winner, along with “two monies” that each of the kid received. Riel also got a toolset while I got a spa gift certificate (for a very much deserved facial and massage).

During the holidays, we went to Mont-Saint-Bruno to take up ski lessons or snow boarding. But we were told we had to book at least two days in advance. We’ll be doing that soon. On a sidenote, Riel convinced the boys (and me) that snow boarding might be better… simply because there is no danger of an involuntary split and risk permanent damage to their jewels! 🙂 That tops the concerns of “these” kids, Riel included. I suspect Riel prefers to snowboard coz it looks way cooler!
