It’s Chewsday!

Our Culinary Tuesday group was held at the house of Rose P. at the nearby village.   Hers was my dream house.  It has a Filipino / Mediterreanean feel with a little touch of Moroccan accent.   It was my fifth time to be there.

Her spacious garden.  The entire garden couldn’t fit in the screen of my point-and-shoot.
One of the tables, my table.   There were  more than twenty-five of us who attended this morning’s cooking demo.
My classmates.   They are my Mom’s and Lola’s contemporaries…

This morning’s cooking theme is Japanese, demonstrated by V. Hashimoto.

Jap
Hashimoto showed us how to make Katsudon, Japanese Chicken Curry, Steamed Fish Fillet, and Nazu (sweet eggplant).  Yummy.

I’ll try them out next week.

Last night, we had a special guest coming at 8pm.

The boys were waiting upstairs.  It was past 8pm; she was a little late.
In the kitchen, the cookies (receipe of Jacques Torres) were on the cooling rack.  I made these for the neighbors who will bring our special guest here.

And then she arrived.  She will be staying with us for a week.  I like how the boys say “hi” to her or greet her good morning, good afternoon or good evening.  Again, this reminded me of the HTA days where a student in each get to bring a smaller Mama Mary home for one week.  And with three sisters in the same school, we her in our home for three weeks each school year.  (Glad that my boys are experiencing this as well).

Riel was a resource speaker yesterday at AIM where he tackled financial advisory and private equity.  He brought home a token, this 2gig USB, which he gave me.  I thought it was a cool give-away.

KQOTD.  While watching Pursuit of Happyness (by the way, the movie is highly recommended).   Chris Gardner to his son: Hey.  Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something.  Not even me.  All right?  Christopher: All right.  Chris Gardner: You got a dream… you gotta protect it.  People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it.  If you want somethin’, go get it.  Period.  Me: Hey Raf, did you hear that?  If you want something, go get it.  Understand?  Raf (bothered):  Yes, I heard that.  But Mommy, if you want something and you get it, isn’t that stealing?  tee hee hee… then explanation
