Ninth

Right after we finished painting the basement, my darling husband (DH) excitedly scheduled our big move on the 12th as a birthday gift for me.  What he didn’t realize is that with meal preparations, laundry, dusting, marketing, French language course, and tending the kids, I didn’t have the luxury of time for packing our stuff.   The only time I had was when the kids were already at bed.   So yep, I was packing until past midnight of the 10th and the 11th and the early morning of the 12th, thank you!  Ask DH if he helped, and he’ll proudly say “yes”.  How?  By staying out of my way and letting me do my stuff undisturbed.  So you see, his intentions were noble.  Period. 🙂

Some of our furniture needed to be disassembled.  They wrapped the furniture in thick fabrics for protection.
Out they go.  I was told that they didn’t have to disassemble this chest drawers so I packed it with clothes.  It was so heavy that two men had to carry it.
The movers took four hours to pack and load our stuff in the truck.
The kids didn’t have school that day.  To stay out of the movers’ way, we temporarily stored the kids in the closet.

The moving and assembly took eight hours to complete.  I was so tired.  By 3pm, I was no longer functioning.  It was a good thing that DH was on top of the situation, administering the movers.

But it was all worth it.  We’re home.

Painting the basement was a challenge.  We didn’t know any better.

It took us one week to finish the painting.
Glad it is over.

Some recent happenings.

We started our French language course early this year.  It’s amazing how much we’ve learned since then.   C’est ne pas facile mais tres interessant!

We also celebrated Riel’s birthday last month.  We ate at Arahova, a Greek restaurant, together with Tito Phil’s family.  After dinner, we went to their house for coffee.

We were surprised that they prepared a little something for him.  Monica, Tito Phil’s daughter, baked this delicious strawberry cheesecake.  We got to take home the leftovers, too!

Riel also received presents from them.  Very thoughtful family, indeed!
We put only the last digit of his age.  Six is enough.
Ma famille.

A few days after Riel’s birthday, the house was officially turned over to us.

We invited Tito Phil and Tita Mely for 0ur first meal at the house… notice the grocery food and disposable plates.

Last month, we started our ski lessons.  I fell three times the first day, and another three times in the second session.   Gladly I didn’t hit any tree and no involuntary split happened.   The boys, all four of them, were better than me.

Below is a short video of the boys on ice:

Last Monday, Raf turned nine.  Thanks to those who greeted him.

Incidentally, we’re also on our ninth month here in Canada.
Make a wish.
Les trois garçons.
