Oh What Fun!

Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noël, Maligayang Pasko!

Today’s Daybook

Dec. 23, Friday, 3:00pm

Outside my window… light snow and temperature of -4C.   Inside is 22C and very comfy.

I am thinking… what gift will Santa give to the children?  Panic mode.

I am thankful… for all our blessings.

In the kitchen… baking cookies.

I am wearing… comfy jeans and cozy socks.

I am creating… our Christmas video which will soon follow.  It got derailed by the late snowfall which happened only today, two days before the 25th!

I am going… around the neighborhood later with the kids to give cookies to our neighbors.

I am wondering… if the snow will soon pile up some more.  The kids are eager to play in the snow.

I am reading… articles on Flipboard.

I am hoping… for everyone to have a wonderful and meaningful Christmas.

I am looking forward to… the children coming home from school in about half an hour.

I am dreading… the children coming home from school in about half an hour and it’s going to be the START of their holiday break.  They will be out of school for TWO WEEKS!!!  (Panic mode again!)

I am hearing… music from the player:  ♪♫ I wish for peace and joy this Christmas; I want the light of love to shine; I’m gonna say a prayer that everywhere; There’s hope this Christmastime ♫ ♪

Around the home… the heater is firing up.

One of my favorite things… Pinterest.  Follow me.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Visit friends for Christmas.  Prepare a dish for potluck.  Do some more baking.  Relax and enjoy the holiday season.

Here are more pictures that I’m sharing:

Trying my hand at making les macarons.  I had more success with David Lebovitz’s recipe but it’s too sweet for my taste.
But then the elusive “feet” made an appearance and I had no cracked tops.

Claudia Fleming’s macaron recipe (The Last Course: The Desserts of Gramercy Tavern) tastes better for me, but  it’s a huge failure in terms of presentation.  But the boys are just too happy to eat them all and they encourage me to keep trying. (“Mommy, we’ll take care of it in case it fails again…”).

Homemade pandesal.
Yummy when it was freshly-baked.  It still needs improvement.
The boys helped me set up the tree.
I love shiny things.
And those that sparkle.
Ready for Christmas.
A realization: My almost 11-year old is twice my size!
Snow-covered Bord du lac.
Winter is here.
And my vintage gingerbread house.

KQOTD.  Kids’ wish list for Santa…

Complete with art work.  “Read in mirror”… ROFL! 🙂
Such a wish list!

#3: Mac or Macbook pro –> lol, who do they think Santa is?  Grammy?  Grampy?

#4: 50 or 25 dollars –> it depends on how much Santa can spare.

#5: 5 x 12 month gold pass for Xbox —>  ‘ey, that’s 5 years worth!!!

#7: 10,000 3DS points card —> how many games do you need?

#8:  Ipod touch —> tsk tsk tsk!!!

And with justification! “P.S.  I’ve been good the whole year!”  –> says who?
