A Bit of Updates

I was backing up some files in our Time Capsule and found some photos that I haven’t uploaded here.   So let’s catch up on the news too, shall we?

Last July, a family friend celebrated her birthday at île Bizard Nature Park.
It’s a 20-minute drive away from our place.
Our adoptive family here in Montreal.
A fat raccoon roaming around freely, looking for food.
Poison Ivy –> leaves of three, let it be!
One of Montreal’s top attraction is the International Fireworks Competition.  This year, it was held from June 14 to August 14, every Saturday at 10pm.
When we watched the show, it was Portugal playing.  Eight countries competed in this year’s fireworks competition.

I made my first almond sans rival.  Thanks to cousin Kate for the recipe and for spending almost an hour over the phone giving me the detailed instruction.  My craving was satisfied.

I went back to running, when the weather was not yet very cold.
Our favorite destination: Pine Beach park.
The Manitoba maple tree in our backyard cracked because of strong winds.  It happened days before we left for our US vacation last July.
The tree could fall any moment and could hit and damage our house.  So we went to the city hall to secure permission to take down the tree.
The day after we got the permit, we had the 45-year old tree cut down.
The yard looked bigger now but we lost the shade.  But then again, less leaves to rake this Fall season!
In late August, we got our bikes!  We should have gotten our bikes in early summer so we had longer time to enjoy the warm weather.
I so loooooove my bike.
It is a very feminine bike.
I love the details… the paisley and flourishes…
…and the wicker basket and bell.

DH as the male mother hen.  He’s good at it.  The chicks follow… wait, what kind of chicks?
The kids are back in school!

One time, Marco arrived home with a surprise for me.

He said he found some treasures hidden under the stairs of his school.
He proudly said, “Mommy, I found these gemstones for you.  Amber and crystals!”   But I was horrified. Those were remnants of beer bottles!
I wanted to throw it right away because they could hurt themselves.  But at the same time, I didn’t want to break their hearts.
So I let them play for a while.
They said they were making a necklace for me.
They didn’t finish the necklace.  They said they will continue it after dinner… but I “put them away.”
That was the last time they saw their amber and crystals.
