June Snippets

I’m catching up (again) on my posts.  Some random happenings:

—————

Gabby got sick during the last days of school that he had to stay at home to rest.

Kuya Raf and Marco missed Gabby so much so they stacked their lunch bags together, put a seatbelt, and pretended that it was their brother Gabby.  My boys feel incomplete when one brother is not with them.

————-

Now, school is out!  We invited some of the boys’ classmates for playdate.

With Raf’s classmate Patrick, also a Filipino.  He is one of Raf’s best friends.
And with Daniella and Gabriel, their Colombian friends.

Some of the perks when Grammy is around:

You can be sure that your pantry is full.
And the grandkids, here and back home, will be busy.

One Sunday in June, we visited Fort Chambly:

It is a national historic site.
The fort was built by the French in 1711 to protect the colony from British invasion.
The fort sits along the Richelieu River.
The boys playing Frisbee.  We planned of having a picnic there but we got rained out.   The weather is very deceiving.
One of the charming houses along the road.

Back home:

As I was emptying the washing machine, I found this:
A white rabbit candy wrapper!
And this: a colored pencil???  What on earth?

I normally check pants pockets… but there are just some that escape me.  Checking each pocket is quite a task especially if they are cargo pants multiplied by four boys!

In June, we had our first house guest.  They arrived Saturday night and left Wednesday morning.

The kids loved having them as guests.  They wanted them to stay with us for ninety-nine more days.
We visited St. Joseph’s Oratory with them.
Thank you Chiqui for the family pictures.

We also visited Mont Tremblant again.

We were here last August.
Lunch at a local creperie.
The boys in front of the candy store.
At the playground.
Ready for the Luge ride.
Gabby and Riel
Marco
Raf
The Luge hill behind me.
Grampy and Grammy waiting in the shade.

In the neighborhood:

A huge tree fell right in front of our house due to strong winds.
It blocked the whole street.
Luckily it didn’t hurt anyone or fall on anything (electric wires or cars).

Today’s Daybook (July 27, 8:34 pm)

Outside my window… are a pair of deer grazing on the grass.  The family is vacationing here right now in Reston, Virginia.

I am thinking… of our route tomorrow in Washington DC.

I am thankful… for all the blessings that God has given me.

I am going… to take a shower after I finish this daybook entry.

I am wearing… pink Bench boxer shorts and a ratty old red shirt.

I am remembering… friends back home.  It’s nice to hear from them every so often (even through FB and YM chats).

I am currently… sitting on the bed typing away this daybook entry.

I am reading… nothing literary at the moment.

I am waiting… patiently for the weekend when Raf will meet with a Southridge classmate in Toronto.

On my mind… my flowers back home might dry out.  They won’t have water unless it rains.

From the kitchen today… grocery-bought tomato cream soup and Burger King Whopper!

Around the house… we are surrounded by trees.  The house of our host is like in the midst of a mini forest.

A few plans for the rest of the week… just enjoy the vacation!
