Just a Quiet Morning

Breakfast is done and all the boys are downstairs.  Their father asked them to fix the basement as we prepare for the house guests coming this week.  There’s not much to clean really, it’s all about putting things back to their proper places.    I delegate more stuff to them as days go by.  Recently, they took responsibility of putting their own folded laundry in their respective drawers.  That’s one less task for me.

Meanwhile, Raf had started a countdown to vacation: eight weeks to be exact!   I am also doing my countdown… to something that I’m very excited about.  July is coming.  The anticipation is killing me.

Last week, we had house guests and the Easter weekend was spent with them.

They’re from Connecticut.  The husband was Riel’s high school classmate, and the wife and I share interests in crafts.  Our children bonded so quickly.
For four days, my kids experienced having both a big brother and a kid brother.
On Easter Sunday, we took them to Mont Tremblant.  It was a two-hour drive from our place.
Most of the ice already thawed, but we realized that spring wasn’t as pretty as summer since most of the trees are still bare.
This is Tremblant in summer.  See the contrast?
We had lunch at the crêperie.  This dessert is to die for.
This once-beautiful-crêpe was devoured under two minutes.   You can count five forks dunked into the poor dessert.
Throwing stones and sticks by the lake.
April is a low season for Tremblant.
There was not much of a crowd, and neither were there much activities to do.   The cable cars were closed.
Ski slopes in winter and the Luge in summer.
We’re happy to have hosted you.  See you again.

Today’s daybook: April 30 (10:54am)

Outside my window… il fait beau!  Sunshine and 14˚F.

I am thinking… how hard it is to choose a gift for a girl, having been surrounded by boys.  Gabby was invited to a girl classmate’s birthday party and I was clueless on what to get her.  What do 9-year old girls like?  I was stumped.

I am thankful for… these wonderful mementos that our guests gave us.

A few of my favorite things… ube halaya, maple pecan pie, and red beans ice-cream.  Thanks Fred, Mon and Sheila!

From the learning room... A new painting on a bigger canvass is in progress.

I am wearing… a pale yellow top and white jeans!  Can’t wait for summer.

I am hoping… for good weather throughout the week.  I haven’t checked the forecast.

Around the house… cleaning and laundry.

Another picture to share… three photos from the same perspective, facing 65˚NE in the basement, main floor, and second floor.

And a story to tell…
There was a big black bird out in the garden that was fighting with two smaller birds.
I shooed the birds away.  But one of the small birds lay on the ground, dead.  I told my boys about it when I picked them up in school that afternoon.
At home, the twins rushed to the backyard to take a look at the bird.  A few minutes later, I saw them on the back porch.  What were they doing?
They were trying to revive the bird.  But how did it get there?

Apparently, Gabby carried the dead bird with his BARE HAND!  *shriek!*  Oh no!  They even thought of burying the bird in my window sill without letting me know about it.  The horror!  I almost dropped the cup that I was holding… thinking about the germs and of getting sick or contracting a disease.  Uhm… yeah, did I tell you that I’m raising boys?
