What We Have Been Up To

And so the adventure continues.

Last Wednesday, an agent took us around West Island to look for a place.   We saw two places that we like, both in the suburbs.  One is nearer to Downtown than the other.

Cute schoolchildren crossing the street.
It’s summer here in Montreal.  Flowers are all around.
The agent showed us houses for sale but we’re not ready to make that commitment yet.
A typical residential street in Pointe-Claire looks like this.

A for-rent apartment in Beaconsfield.  It’s walking distance to parks and school but far from the Montreal business district.  Traffic can be unpredictable in winter.

On Friday, Tito Phil and Tita Mely took us around town.  Our first stop was the Mazda shop.

Riel is looking at getting the CX-7, a mix of his Mazda 6 and the Tribute that I was using back home.
Raf has always been fond of cars even when he was small.
He went inside all the cars that were on display.

Incidentally, the name of the shop is Mazda-Gabriel.

Gabby-Gabriel
So Gabby asked me to take his picture with all the cars bearing his name.
Marco-Kulit
Marco, being his usual makulit-self got reprimanded.  I told him to stay in the lounge and sit still.

Later that day, Tito Phil took us to Ikea to look at furniture.

Ikea has a play area where we deposited the kids.
So many choices.

On Sunday (Fathers Day), Tito Phil fetched us for mass.

The kids strapped on the backseat.
Crossing St. Lawrence river via the Victoria Bridge to South Shore.
A tanker ship ahead.

We heard the Sunday mass in Brossard, then Tito Phil and Tita Mely treated us to a Greek restaurant.  We were so full.

Then we visited Brault & Martineau, another furniture shop.

Taking a rest.
The kids trying out the beds.
Raf wanted to bring home the stuffed toy.
Going back to Downtown, we took the Champlain Bridge.
Sunday traffic.
A side trip to an indoor ice skating rink.
The kids wanted to give it a try.  Maybe next time.

Back on the homefront…

The boys are now doing the laundry.  They sorted the whites, the colors, and the denims.
They liked the new task.  They found the job easy to do.
Dump, dump, dump.  Three available washers, three loads running at the same time.
They all got the chance to insert the coins.  They pretend that they’re getting gumballs and candies in return.

Across the laundry room is the hotel’s terrace, up there on the 23rd floor.

They brought their bubbles with them.  Other hotel guests in the terrace had fun watching them.
Bubbles all around.
“Can we stay here longer?”

They got their bubbles from James’ 2nd birthday party.  It was the first birthday party that we attended here in Montreal.  We met other Filipinos, too.  On the dessert table, they had puto, kutchinta, pichi-pichi, carioca and leche flan.  We felt like we never left home.

Raf and Marco had the height advantage so they got a lot of candies from the “pabitin”.   They shared their loots with the other children.

By the way, we just signed the lease contract yesterday.

We will no longer be homeless soon.
