Post Christmas

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas.  I did.

Riel is a voracious reader so he appreciates the books he got for Christmas.   (Nope, those aren’t from me)

With Christmas over, I’m busy with other things…

I’m handcrafting Liezl’s wedding invites… and soon her cupcake give-aways.

And speaking of weddings, I went through some of the stuff I got from my own wedding.

I wasn’t born with a silver spoon but I have cutlery sets right before me:

cutlery
These are my favorite and most treasured.

When I checked them out, I found that some pieces have tarnished.

stains
Growing up, my aunt taught us how to clean our lola’s silvers.  I forgot about it until my Ate showed it to me recently.
soda-solution
Lay aluminum foil in a basin.  Add equal amounts of baking soda and salt.  Pour hot water.
soaked
Soak your silvers and watch the tarnish go away.
buffed

Rinse then buff with soft cloth.  Voila!  These beauties are now back in their wooden boxes.  It may take a year or two before I take them out again and clean them piece by piece.  I never get tired.

KQOTD: Riel wanted grilled steak for dinner so we installed our gas griller that afternoon.   Too bad and too late, the gas tank was empty and no charcoal can be found.  He ended up grilling it on the electric griller.  It was Riel’s first time to cook for the family.  *Hallelujah*  When Grammy and Grampy came home after dinner, Raf informed them, “You know Grammy, my Daddy cooked our steak and it is very yummy.”  Grammy: Really?  So your Daddy makes the best steak in the whole world?  Raf: No.  He’s only second to Mom.  (Ehem… that’s my boy!)
